Usually series start waning after so many books but this series keeps getting more interesting! Story is fleshing out more on the alien side which we haven’t had a lot of before. Narration is just awesome.

Highly inconsistent and fairly unbelievable. The ten year old has the chi stores of everyone else with much higher cultivation levels. Sure he is more skilled with it, but it’s claimed early on he has essentially no chi whatsoever. That is never properly explained away.
The third volume of the novel is impressive and concludes with a heartbreaking scene that brought me to tears. It was very engaging and intense. However, I felt that the fourth book was overly prolonged, seeming to focus too much on secondary characters without sufficiently developing the protagonist, especially in the beginning and middle portions..
