The story, although very well performed is illogically developed and made no sense, even after the epilogue and the first chapter of the next book … sorely disappointed!

I admit that in the beginning I was a bit bored because the story felt more like a Rocky/ underground fighting movie as opposed to a cultivation story but I enjoyed the care put into the characters.

This is a great series. It constantly pulls you in and makes you want the characters to succeed. I love that part. I hate that it’s been seven books and this mc still doesn’t have a spine. I literally find myself gritting my teeth to keep from yelling obscenities at this guy as he acts..

I really wanted to like this book. Narrator was top notch, intro really sucked me in, I liked the writing style overall. my goodness did he add too much detail for the magic system. Chapters upon chapters are solely for useless facts that don’t effect the story itself. might give the next book a try..
Travis Baldree is a fantastic narrator! I was thoroughly impressed! The story was solid and I can’t wait for the next audiobook!

Narration was the best part. Just when the story got interesting it abruptly ended on a cliffhanger. I got really tired of hearing detailed descriptions of the old man “cleansing” himself. Recommend you read the Ritualist series instead.
