This was a great listen with great narration. This book does a fantastic job of creating a new and epic fantasy world. I can’t wait for more in this series.

the story and characters are good. not extraordinary, but solidly good. BUT, there is way too much technical detail on using “essense” (the magic) which really did not help me understand it. I’m not sure it is necessary to understand it to enjoy the story. but all this detail makes it seem like the reader..
I really enjoyed this book. The MC is not some OP dude who smashes everything in his path (though those stories can be fun) instead he is a normal dude with problems I can relate to. Yes he tends to get his butt kicked, but he is always moving forward. He’s improving slowly but surely..
it was slow but we’ll detailed, explaining the hard magic it uses. except for some violence, it’s a relatively clean book, thanks! the end was everything I hoped it would be.

This book is awesome! The Narrator, don’t know how he does it, seems to have hundreds of different voices ready for all types of characters. Hats off to you Mr. Baldree.It’s your typical shunned by his clan since birth type of main character. That through shear will proves all others ,including fate,wrong. All with it’s..
slow to start,but informing us in detail, about the things a people that we needed to know, in order to enjoy, the series. interesting and entertaining once things got moving, definitely worth listening to
so overall great story perfectly performed by Travis, but the end of the 4th book defied all logic built up with in the rest of series, Arthur has strong ties with most of the council and is suddenly dealt with terribly by said council
Starts out a little slow but builds nicely. Enjoyed the narration, his read flows and keeps you in the story. I’ve been more in scify lately but this has brought me back to fantasy. Good read.

A little slow to get going but I’m excited to continue the series. The world seems very interesting and this book does a great job setting the table. If you’re looking to get into a series of recommend it.
sllow paced start but pick up. a bit like a rpg game narative, but very enjoyable nevertheless. voice acting is superb inclusing a great dwarf trope
