I understand not wanting to stick to the common tropes all the time but tropes are tropes for a reason. Im really hoping the next book gets us back on track.

The narration moves to new characters all the time and there is almost no connection between them. Who are these people and why do I need to care? There is no explanation for anything that is considered “normal” in this world. Would not recommend it to anyone.

the story is well rounded, narration was great. eagerly waiting for more to come. keep up the good work

The entire Cradle Series is amazing, but this book had me stuck from start to finish. I’ve listened to it at least 7 times.

The author is an absolute genius in linking his stories. By far one of the best authors I’ve had the privilege of viewing the work of.

This book is a little hard to follow if you haven’t read the previous series which I have not, so things were confusing at times because the story often referred to things that had happened in other series. While the storyline, characters and world building are great I believe that giving the reader/listener a heads..

The author’s notes were very jarring and prevented me from getting immersed in the story. The lack of progression, romantic, martial, and emotional, was disappointing. It wasn’t a bad story and I’ll continue to read the series but this one is the weakest of the current three.

but there is one thing that I disliked immensely, randomly in the middle of a paragraph there will be a break for an “authors note” where the story stops while the author explains some random bit chinese lore or history. As if it would be difficult to ascertain why a noble might not want to..

Only complaint was the narrator seemed to talk really fast. Still giving it five stars, but hope he slows it down some.
