Good but slow ?

I enjoyed the books so far. I feel like they are just so slow in progressing the main characters progress. So much that the books 1-2 could be one book and 3-4 could be another. I only bought these because the were on sale for 5-7$. Good story but slow. Not worth the monthly credit.
