Can’t help but think Mr. Monk is working through some personal issues with this trilogy. I did enjoy it, but found the romantic entanglement between the protagonist’s wife and girlfriend a bit tedious.

Made it 7 chapters in, so far there is no plot. Also the author has no idea how fights work. If you spawn in the middle of open midevil combat on an open battlefield there is no cover, you can’t sneak up up on enemies with an overt mage class, and you certainly don’t open..
