This book was explained to me in the past as a LitRPG, which are books that I absolutely hate. So I avoided this book thinking the worst. I hate when towards the end of the book the author adds a POW from other characters, there’s not interest in them at that point. The character worries so much for his family but keeps information from them that could save their lives is so frustrating.

You’ve got a few kids investigating a mystery while experiencing a whole new mystical world, so it sort-of reminds me of totoro and spirited away. I really loved the story as it unfolded and certainly will get any follow-on books in this world.
