Great all around. A nice fantasy story with a refreshing setting and a great focus on characters (mostly physically) growing. The main character is a little bland, but I think that works for this story. He overcomes his struggles through hard work, dedication, and cleverness without any unearned advantages handed to him.

I should have stopped at the 3rd book, didn’t care much for it, same goes for this one. Not much personal growth of the MC and too many 1/2 hour-long battles. The narrator is great, no complaints with Travis.

I really enjoyed this story it had a nice plot to it as well as some very interesting characters. Definitely can’t wait to start the next book. If you like monsters and ships and some very interesting types of magic I think you will enjoy this.

While I actually loved the story and the characters the constant “He said I said she said” got irksome very quickly. That is the only downside to this book…if that transition between speaking characters could be somehow “fixed” a Def 5Star read.
