I don’t know what it was but every time I listen to it I’d fall asleep I regret buying it cuz at the time that I bought it it was like $13 and some cents and I could have bought a whole another book that I would enjoy with that money I can’t remember half..
So far the author was smart enough not to kill off these best people I hope he doesn’t kill them off because if he does I won’t listen to another book.
If you like books like cradle, this is on par. A slow start but it gets better in later books. The story felt at first like a video game you would rather be playing but later you will appreciate all the details. The first book is good but not excellent. Just keep on reading.
The story kept me interested all the way to the end where I wound up finishing it in 2 days while doing outside projects. the characters were well done, and storyline was very well formed and exciting. There were no parts of this book that were a boring or felt like a struggle to endure..

Without spoilers, the story is terrible. I get that you need to have some suspense of reality but it is clearly not thought out. Character is told several times that “leveling is hard” yet some how him and others are “growing fast” within the first 5 hours of the game and the power scaling doesn’t..
It’s not badly written It’s simply a style of storytelling I don’t like with the main characters given phenomenal cosmic powers or abilities but of course he’s not smart enough to use them so other people have to tell them what to do he’s constantly lit around by the nose you the reader or not..

decent story, narration, and world-build. Hopefully the use of dailogue tags will be improved though. very much like a lot of John Scalzi books with the repetitive “I said, she said, he said, I said, he said….”
