This was such a great book. I think it is my favorite so far. It’s wonderful to see the advancements of the main characters and I also like that they aren’t ridiculously strong but suffer some losses along the way. It’s humbling lol
Travis Baldree was fantastic as always, but the story was much like another story I listened to recently, which Baldree narrated. Felix something or other… If you want a really good story that is read by Baldree, listen to the Cradle series, written by Will Wight. You will not be disappointed. I’ll continue with this..
To be honest I read underpowered Howard first. Then when searching for more I found this wonderful nugget. I read all three in about as many days. I’ve enjoyed myself thoroughly. Hope you do as well.

Spoiler Alert: PAINFULLY DUMB! The worldbuilding started off well, if a bit trite, but dear lord, the MC has ZERO ability to use context clues, extrapolate, remember basic information he learned 5 minutes ago, or even just have his own opinion. I can get behind a character being dumb because that’s who they are however,..
The humor was funny, action was packed, great power creep. The only thing I didn’t like was the conversation style. Having “Hamma said” or “Sift said” after every line does become a bit tedious. With Baldree’s tone inflections you get a lot more flexibility with character conversations. 9/10
This book was, um… not for me. The narrator does an amazing job, and the book isnt bad necessarily. For what it is I’m sure it’s good. I just had no idea it was going to make me so uncomfy lol. I guess I was just super naive thinking it would be a heartfelt fairy..
