I found this series after listening to RhinoZ’ other series (the one about the ant). I thought the first book in this series was pretty good but I wasn’t sure if it was quite as good as the other series. By the time I got to the end of this one I was struggling with..
The first book was absolutely excellent, except I often have found myself disappointed until the very end about what options spot/void had available and chose. With his choices and with a more proper growth of his worship in the second book I’m very impressed and think the story will be consistently more exciting going forward.

Four books in and this is the first lit RPG series I’ve read with actual video games as video game that’s worth the read. Amazing storytelling. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is there are a handful of contextual translations that don’t quite flow in English. Still, amazing work.
Solid story, a solid narrator, actual character development and growth. The main character does not rely on plot armor to stay alive. Book one starts off a little slow but book two picks up the pace. I definitely recommend giving this one a try.

I liked the characters, they are very believable. Portland is well portrayed also. I live in Portland and there are hoards of homeless, or unhomed.
