I picked this up to fill the time waiting for a book release in a series I follow. I usually avoid buying books that don’t have many reviews (for new to me authors) but I love Phil Thron’s narration so I took a chance. I enjoyed it so I’ll be getting the next book.

Too much exposition

interesting magic system, but the way it’s written is not great in my opinion, too much internal dialog explaining things that don’t need to be explained in that way with that much angst.

Exceptionally well done and maybe one of the best narrations I’ve heard.

Many logical inconsistencies during combat scenes spoiled most of the major climax scenes for me. Ex getting staggered from a ground stomp while standing off the ground etc. Multiple 15 min sections of reading entire stat blocks after minor changes also ruined the flow.
