What is with the random accents?

Review from Say You’re Sorry →

This book is an entertaining mix of mystery, action, and romance, but the narrator is super annoying. Not awful enough that I couldn’t listen, but it definitely took some effort to get past it. People who weren’t southern randomly had southern accents, women who weren’t valley girls inexplicably sounded like valley girls. Wtf? Overall though,..

Review from Mason Dixon: Monster Hunter →

Fun little series. The names of the creatures cracks me up, even more so since I believe in those part of the woods those names are really what they are called. Enjoyed the narrator who read the book in the accent of the region.

I just cannot get past the narrator.

Review from Say You’re Sorry →

I think I would love this book if not for the narrator. I’m 5 hours into it and I think I’m am going to stop. There is not much difference in the characters voices. The women all sound like a man making fun of a woman’s voice. It distracts from the story.
