The book itself is a family reunion for the first family of Lily Morton’s catalog, and introduces a main character for a subsequent book. It’s charming, swoony, snarky, and everything that’s special about Lily’s work, particularly with Gabe and Dylan and their immediate circle of friends. I like Cats writing. She’s cool. It’s Joel Leslie. His delivery gets under my skin. I can’t ignore it. I think it’s just his way he speaks, but it comes across as very affected. This manner makes every word he says sound over-the-top. I wish my favorite authors wouldn’t hire him
