For a story about someone taking their first journey into space, where you’d expect an action and aventure yarn, but instead you get what really is fairly a mundane tale of just a dude learning how to live life on a space freighter, the story is well constructed, the characters while not full of gritty..

The book kept my interest to the end but it was short and probably not worth a full credit. So if you can get it on sale that’s the way to go. The book is literally about trading between planets. The characters are good, everyone is nice and there is no sex, violence or bad..
I’m about halfway through book two. I read tons of military space ScfFi with tons of pew-pew-pew and menacing alien critters. This has none of that. You might call it pedestrian, since it’s basically the ins-and-outs of buying a freighter and fleshing out the crew, but the characters get a lot of development as well..

I tried listening to this once and I wasn’t sucked in until the end like I was with Flux and i got a quarter in and never finished it for probably the last year it sat in library but I ran out of things to listen to and started over and this was pretty good…

This series just got better and better with each book and this was an excellent conclusion. Assuming it is, in fact, the end of the story. It was not the end I expected out the one I hoped for, but it was well done.

I Typically enjoy Robinson’s writing and assumed I would get a good laugh out of this book, which I did not. Overall the book is chaotic and there was no build up of a story making me feel disconnected. I managed to make it all the way thru but it was a struggle.

It was so hard to keep up with who is with you and who is talking in the story. This could’ve been a wonderful story. I like sex scenes, but enough is enough. You don’t have to have so many in there that don’t even relate to what is going on in the story other..

I haven’t read Clive Barker since I was a teen which was over 30 years ago. This anthology was written about that time and it proves to be timeless. each story is narrated by a different voice actor and they were definitely actors rather than just readers. I am reminded why Clive Barker was one..
