This was quite a surprise. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into but, thoroughly enjoyable. The main character is likeable and the author lets us get to know him. He definitely learns to make lemonade from lemons .

Horror at its most elegant

This is my second time listening to this and I had somehow forgotten in the meantime how beautifully visceral Barkers writing style is. Truly lends an elegant lense to horror, blending the two like pain and pleasure. Bravo

Solid slice-of-life on a merchant space ship. Reminds me of Hornblower (one of the main character’s namesakes) without the battles. This belongs in the “Good people doing their best in space” story category.
