This was quite a surprise. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into but, thoroughly enjoyable. The main character is likeable and the author lets us get to know him. He definitely learns to make lemonade from lemons .

This is my second time listening to this and I had somehow forgotten in the meantime how beautifully visceral Barkers writing style is. Truly lends an elegant lense to horror, blending the two like pain and pleasure. Bravo

Solid slice-of-life on a merchant space ship. Reminds me of Hornblower (one of the main character’s namesakes) without the battles. This belongs in the “Good people doing their best in space” story category. If you like Anne McCaffrey, Louis McMaster Bujold, Sharon Shin’s Elemental Blessings, or Legends and Lattes; you’ll probably like this one. Engrossing..
