A glimpse of our not too distant future if we do not take sufficient steps to mitigate climate change, and we won’t take sufficient steps. I was finishing this book as the climate summit in Glasgow was concluding, and unfortunately, the prophecy of the book was playing out exactly. Our governments won’t act. It is..
thoroughly imagined, ideologically serious & thorough, with a lot of narrative momentum + scientific and theoretical rigor. the strange friendship between Mary and Frank at the center of the narrative was complex, fascinating, and real. the story captured a future sweep of history, and somehow managed to grapple with the prospect of climate induced megadeth..

I love short stories and I love horror. What could go wrong? A lot apparently. The stories were predictable or awkward. The narration was mediocre- the voices used for women and children almost made things comedic if they weren’t so annoying. I did not finish the book and wish I could get my credit back.
