I was disappointed with this trilogy. All the standard fantasy tropes were used. There were strong echoes of The Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, the Sword of Shannara. The characters spent a lot of time fighting, angry, or both. It was a bit predictable and the books needed a bit of editing.

The action scenes were well written, the story was interesting, and I have found that I must find out what happens to the characters in book 2. The narrator took a little getting used to, but soon i got used to him. Lots of action, complicated characters. Recommended!
