I like the transitions between settings. It really displays the author’s talent for worldbuilding. I’d recommend this series to any Fantasy and LitRPG readers.

I went into the book almost blind, I knew it was fantasy and Asian in the world building but that’s all I knew. It had been recommended to me by people who read all sorts of different genres, plus it’s long enough to keep me company on walks for a while. This thought back fired..
loved it and will listen to it again …highly recommend if you like post apocalyptic …

The writing is solid, combat is especially well written, but the narrator has some extremely American pronunciation of Japanese terms, of which there are plenty. Absolutely heart wrenching, raw, and honest about the way a person must decide to grow and sometimes only after disaster. Excellent voice acting. After so many glowing/strong recommendations for this book, I was expecting a 5 star maybe 6 star read but for me, it was good, but not the best book of my year.
