I have consumed just about every book that I can find on audible about the great Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. One of the things I had started doing was listening to the sample and the performance of the characters. In this case, the performance is extraordinary. The storyline is very entertaining. Any supposed Sherlock Holmes story written by this author is terrible. They are forced. They lack in content. I have listened to over two months worth of audio books on audible alone in the last year and this is one of the worst. It is not a s h story it is a mystery he..
Really enjoyed the book and the series but the characterization of Watson is too much. He is almost stupid in his portrayal asking questions with obvious answers and having no understanding of solving crimes. For a sidekick who has been with Holmes for years it was disappointing. Boring

I am not sure why the author feels the need to justify Sherlock’s presence in the US by weaving an elaborate prologue. It is unnecessary, boring, and adds nothing to the book. Next book..
The unmitigated change in tone from first person narrative, in past novels, to third person narrative, in this iteration, is a misguided and regrettable one. The pretense that we are hearing Watson share raw data straight from one of his beloved manuscripts makes for a style of storytelling which grows tiresome and amateurish… and very..
