More bad than good

Review from The Black Farm →

I have one hour to go and am finding myself almost rooting against the protagonist. The bizarre setting of the story was interesting, along with some of the monsters. The sneaking-around scenes are what shined, but when it came to action/fighting/characters getting themselves out of a tight spot, the solutions and dialogue were downright silly…

Story goes nowhere

Review from The Black Farm →

I can’t even finish it. I don’t care at all about the characters and find them annoying. The story is so slow to get anywhere and it makes zero sense half the time. How would someone who is terrified and whining 80% of the time be the hero of anything?

Bad

Review from Head Like a Hole →

There was nothing about this book that I could get into. I tried so hard because it kept coming up on my TikTok, but sadly it was just not good. The narration was dreadful and the writing had the arrogant “I know something you don’t know” that a lot of horror writers tend to do…

AWESOME story…

Review from Head Like a Hole →

Quite unique and scary! It was over before I knew it! Couldn’t stop listening. The only downside was the narrator…he sounded bored, breathy, and about to fall asleep. I really like this author, but I noticed he uses the same narrator for all his books. Too bad. But I’ll deal with that for the great..

I had to stop listening to the audiobook entirely and finish it in physical form. as far as The story goes, the last few chapters felt muddy, kind..

CICADAS

Review from Forsaken →

The story had promise but failed on execution. Repetitive, jarring and unsure whether it wants to read like a classic or a penny dreadful. At least 5hours too long. I guessed the big reveal from early on but couldn’t believe it could be so simplistic after all the rigmarole so I went on. Nothing scary..

Worth a return for credit.

Review from The Black Farm →

Waited and waited for an ending that could make up for a bad novel, but that didn’t happen. Of course, I can’t return it because I listened to the whole thing. I think I should be commended for the time I wasted listening to a book that started off good enough to make you believe..

middle-aged angst not horror

Review from Forsaken →

this was awful, very little about the paranormal problem, a whole lot about a middle aged prof and his young student. Do not recommend if you’re genuinely looking for paranormal horror. The narrator was great.
