I like Dalzelle. I loved his black fleet series with Mark Boyette narrating.Even the obsidian stories about Jason Burkes son’s adventures were okay. But this book seemed like a weak attempt. Same people in the same situations with the same predictable results and now an attempt to bring both series together? Meh…. I don’t regret the time or money I spent but would I recommend it? No. Because you’ll be lost if you haven’t read at least the first TWO books. In book one, you meet the characters then In book two they become a team. I love space operas but this story was something from “DAYS OF OUR LIVES” or GENERAL HOSPITAL”. And to top it off, the story is not even complete, YOULL HAVE TO BUY THE NEXT BOOK IF YOU WANT ANYTHING RESEMBLING CLOSURE or a satisfying ending. I really didn’t like it when Han Solo got frozen in carbonite and then IT ENDS!! Same thing here with this story.
Paul Heitch narration is the only reason I gave it an overall four, he does an excellent job of differentiating the characters and really gives them depth and personality with his pitch, tempo, cadence and inflection
