I’m new to the cozy mystery genre, but this book will certainly make me come back for more. This book a great book to curl up with coffee and read/listen on a rainy afternoon or at the beach. The characters are well developed, and the storyline is wonderful. There is just enough back story and details to pull you in and not get overwhelmed. I’m hoping the same characters continue throughout the series so readers can watch them slowly develop.
The narration was spot on as well for me. While the characters didn’t have incredibly distinct voices, I found it wasn’t as necessary in this book. The importance here was on inflection which was great; surprise, confusion, distraction. Mr. Kafer pulled it off without a hitch.
