you can very quickly tell the author was in a rush. I’ve seen him say he was well good and tired and ready to end the greystone series. and you can tell that immensely in this last entry. everything felt rushed. I’d guess maybe he originally planned a 6th book?
he simply went through the paces quickly tying off/finishing some plot elements, leaving many unanswered and progressing the story. a huge numbers of “can of worms”. I mean since when was Fitz the original dragon? Where did that come from? The ending was total trash.
I appreciate the continuation of the story and if it wasnt for that. this would be rated 2 stars.
dave is a very good author and most of his other work is great. top notch. but this felt lazy and an uncaring end to the series.
