Of course, I heard about the “drama” around Balance before I decided to listen.

Of course, I know is a MF, taboo story that I have no doubt will make some uncomfortable. And people with triggers should skip it. Because let’s face it folks, it is our choice to read/listen to a particular book.

Alas, with that out of the way. On to my review.

I liked Balance but didn’t love it.

I didn’t particularly care for Adrianna, the heroine; for a millennial with the means and access to internet and information, she willingly misinformed , simple and naive.

Kova , the hero, is an interesting character. I liked him . I think he is misunderstood and carries a heavy burden .

But the story is told completely from Adrianna POW, we don’t know what is going through his mind. And she isn’t a trustworthy witness .

Their sexual relationship is intense and very hot. I liked their chemistry and their struggles made the story interesting.

As for the narrator, Sara Puckett did a good job for the females roles but the males specifically Kova, it wasn’t good. He voice had the same soft tone the entire time, no discernible moods. He is supposed to be this Alpha male , intense, with a masculine and sexy voice, but it wasn’t.

I gave it a 4 stars because it takes courage and determination to publish a book like Balance. Lucia Franco wrote the story her characters wanted to be told and that deserves at least a half star.
