Writer just wrote a book about playing WOW

Writer comes up with a story about next generation super VR MMORPG, but literally uses the most antiquated non compelling mechanics around. All interactions are automatic; want to learn a craft? Talk to an NPC and bam you have alchemy. No learning, no work, just a 30 second conversation. Want to learn how to cast magic? Do a quest and you instantly know how to do it.

All gear seems to have stats on it the garbage falling from the first mob. For what reason does a tattered shirt give you intelligence?

Quests are basic kill quest. Spawn in the middle of a war? Kill 3 soldiers and talk to me while everyone is still fighting.

Both main characters are unlikeable. MC is a failure and continues to be in game. No reason to root for him or care what he does. The axe is ridiculous and the humor doesn’t land for me.
