Wow, JA Huss has given us quite a story here to kick off this new series. I would definitely say that this story is Romantasy, romance, sci-fi, AI multi-universe or parallel universe.
The story begins with our two main characters, Clara Birch (Spark Maiden: 3 months left to complete her 10 year commitment) and Finn Scott (Extraction Master son & love interest to Clara- he is basically royalty and appears to be dedicated to Clara)
As the story moves along we get details about how this world works and what the Spark Maiden’s role is and expectations. We quickly discover that there is an evil possibly more sinister side to Tau City and how this God in the Tower is demanding more & more Spark Maidens.
I really loved Clara’s character and her growth, she was able to adapt to her new situations and never seemed to miss a beat. I loved her loyalty to those she loves or has opened up her inner circle to.
Tyse is another character that I absolutely loved and how he would do anything to protect those he feels responsible for and demands that those people give him the same loyalty.
I don’t want to give any spoilers here, but I highly recommend this story to all. This is mild spice romance, maybe 2 out of 5, on the spice level.
I have listened to the audio as well and the narrator’s do an amazing job with the voices of the characters.
