As someone who typically reads thrillers and some fantasy, Dungeon Crawler Carl was my first dive into the LitRPG genre, and I couldn’t have picked a better entry point. The story hooked me from the start with its unique and compelling premise—imagine The Hunger Games meets Dungeons & Dragons, set in a brutal, ever-changing dungeon with high stakes, deadly traps, and an audience watching every move.

Listening to this on Audible was a fantastic experience, thanks in large part to the superb narration. The narrator brought the characters to life, adding depth, humor, and intensity to every scene. I was immediately immersed in the world, and as a D&D player, I loved the game-like mechanics woven into the story. The pacing was excellent, with a mix of action, strategy, and dark humor that kept me engaged the entire time.

Carl and his feline sidekick, Donut, make for an unforgettable duo. Their dynamic is both entertaining and compelling, and I found myself rooting for them as they navigated the dungeon’s ever-escalating challenges. The plot is unpredictable, the world-building is solid, and the tension never lets up.

This book left me eager to continue the series to see how it all unfolds. If the rest of the series maintains this level of storytelling, I know I’m in for an incredible ride. Whether you’re new to LitRPG or a longtime fan, Dungeon Crawler Carl is a must-read (or listen). I can’t wait for more.
