The Sound of Silence is a wonderfully written and very powerful book. It contains some major triggers and is not a light read. However, it’s very powerful – showing how quickly violence can happen, how it can be unexpected and why some people stay. The events leading up to Gia leaving are brutal and adding in the other elements ramp up the tension and violability of Gia’s situation. Adding in a reconnection when Gia goes on the run makes this story come alive. Derek’s patience with Val is heart-melting. I loved that he helps her learn the skills to defend herself and doesn’t try to be the hero who jumps in to save the day. The contrast between Ethan and Derek is major. I wanted more of Gianna and Derek. This is an amazing story with a ton of twists and turns. I highly recommend it.

I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsession and Pink Flamingo Productions. This is my honest and voluntary review.
