- Would you listen to Cronin’s Key again? Why?
- Absolutely! NR Walker has written a fantastic book with strong three dimensional characters brought to life by the incomparable Joel Leslie! A detective is attacked and a man tries to save him, but gets shot instead. As the man lay dying, he tells Alec to find Cronin and tell him he has found the key. Then he turns to dust. Alec is shocked. He did not know vampires really existed. In the dust, Alec finds a wooden bullet. He returns to the station and a man comes in. Alec is instantly drawn to him. The man tells him to wrap his arms around him and not knowing why, Alec does what he is told and suddenly they disappear. Alec has just met the man/vampire whom the fates have chosen to be his mate. Over the next few days as they try to get to know one another, they learn that Alec is the key. The key to stopping a crazy Egyptian vampire who is raising an army of ancient dead and mummified vampires and plans to bring Osiris, the God of the Dead, back to life. But a seer tells them that Alec must remain human to do this.
- What did you like best about this story?
- The characters were so good! Not only Alec and Cronin, but their friends Eiji and Jodis, especially Eiji who was the comic relief, although Alec could be pretty snarky himself, which had Eiji laughing constantly.
- Which scene was your favorite?
- That’s too hard to say – I loved the whole book. There were a couple of scenes, I guess, but if I say, they would be spoilers!
- Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
- Both!
- Any additional comments?
- I will listen to anything by Joel Leslie, even if he’s reading a phone book! He has introduced me to so many fantastic authors and series. Thank you Joel for being one of the best narrators out there!
