A decent book overall. It was more witty than funny. Most of the humor is enuendo and grows on the listener as it becomes pleasantly anticipated and part of each characters “quirks”.

The story is whimsical in many cases, as are the characters, which serves to ground the main protagonist in a good way.

I enjoyed the magic system and its unstructured, structure.

I think this writer has yet to hit their stride in this book and hope there will be more audible installments from this series; with a different narrator.

The narration wasn’t awful, but I don’t think this was the best book to showcase the narrator’s talents. Her “highbrow” (read English) accents were forced, slipped and melodramatic in most cases. She did an “okay” job. I’m not typically a fan of replacing narrators between books, but hope a different narrator is used for future installments. Not sure I’d pick up the second book if it’s the same narrator.
