The author is fantastic and I have enjoyed all of his books but there are two large, negative things that stood about this reading. First, the narrator was not as good as the other narrator the author uses for his recent books in this timeline, the voice is gritty and I get that it’s in an effort to capture the “Appalachian charm” but I find the voice is more annoying than charming (maybe that’s a preference). [WARNING: The remaining review contains spoilers. Read at your own discretion] The second issue is with the logic in the story —it’s inconsistent. Throughout the book characters are brought back to life by a “flux” but there are certain people who die that are not revived by a flux down the line. Also, I’m still a little confused how an entire town continued to be transported but the truck wasn’t but maybe I missed that. Despite all the above, still a good listen/read.
