I am a sucker for a decent dystopian novel/series. I enjoyed the depth of this story and the intricate intertwining of the characters. Although, the story at some points can take place in 4-5 different spots you are never lost. I appreciate the focus of the author and their ability to give some background to the main characters but not necessarily keep them in the forefront the entire time.
These kinds of books are great resources for readers (listeners) because if you are in any way a “prepper” some scenarios in this series can leave you with things to think about should something like this ever happen. The unfortunate truth is there will be a small few who will be able to take care of themselves and the VAST majority of the country will die off and/or resort to violence. So, as a “prepper” it is your responsibility to understand THAT and prepare for THAT because it will likely be the most dangerous thing we encounter.
The corruption of the government is no surprise and would not surprise me if it happened in real life. I appreciate the realism capture there as well.
Finally, as always Kevin Pierce does not disappoint. Aside from Duke Fontaine, Kevin Pierce captures the characters better than every other narrator out there. Kudos.

If you are a dystopian novel lover, this trilogy is for you.
