Work never ends, even for the dead.

This is an excellent take on Urban Fantasy investigator. I love constraints on the main character; there are lots of strings to pull on for future books.

I was struck by the unique take on the MC build and how it was new. I found myself thinking of all the characters in history, Asking who would be damned like this… I have a few front runners and hope it is revealed eventually.

The story is solid, with good clues and a few enjoyable red herrings. The narrator was great, really great.

I have a few bugbears; the word gank comes up too many times. And time seems to expand and shrink a little bit. With an event taking minutes and then a similar event taking hours.

But, you will see that I have marked this as an overall 5-star, and these things make no difference to how much I genuinely enjoyed this story.
