The story isn’t really groundbreaking or terribly interesting. It’s pretty standard faire for the genre though and while it’s derivative and not particularly memorable, it engaged me enough that I finished it. The performance by most of the cast is fine, the dark elf girl (I literally just finished the book and already forgot her name) has a voice that made everything she said seem off. Everything that came out of her mouth was sardonic, but the voice didn’t really lend itself to her character if that makes sense. Overall, if you like this type of story you could do worse, but you could also do a lot better.
