Joel Leslie and Lily Morton are a perfect pairing and for this Jane Austen fan this was superb. Freddie and Darcy have been friends and pining to be more to each other forever but neither wants to risk the friendship. When they are paired as driver and tour guide on a multi-day literary tour, the finally get the chance to open up to each other. It takes one of them breaking out of his comfort zone and doing something unexpected to get them together but I loved that little push. The passengers on the bus are an entertaining bunch for the reader and each drawn distinctly with Morton’s usual understanding of character even in this shorter length work. Joel Leslie is the perfect performer for this. He catches all the lightness and humor while also letting us hear how much Freddie and Darcy feel for each other and want more.
