Castle creates a stunning sequel here, subtly adding depth to existing characters while gradually introducing a slightly wider cast (Full of side characters I hope he keeps.) The same darkness that haunts the edges of Jack in Challanges rears it’s head; fully explained and more gruesome than ever, but without the spiral of wounded denial he was trapped in in the first book.
Read. This!
It’s intricate, gorgeously crafted, deliciously sinister, touchingly human, and all around full of cleverness.
