I like listening to these kinds of books because they take my mind off of things. They’re usually light, none of the main characters die, and the good guys win at the end.

This story was way too short to develop any character and even the story well enough.

The narrator is good when he is the main male but lacked the nuances for female voices – especially.

The hero… well most of these fantastic “warrior”s must really suck because he got caught 3 times and almost got himself killed within the span of a 5.5-hour narration.

The heroine…mousy but gutsy at times. She does something good, then becomes the agreeable “woman”. No thanks!

The editor of this book needs help as well. There were continuity issues, discrepancies, and just plain stuff that needed explaining (at some point) but that never happened.

And, now the BIGGEST PROBLEM.

I recently listened to a book by M.K. Eidem – Grim. If I had to choose, I would say that book was much better than this one. However, the similarities in both books were unsettling. 1 lead female, 2 supporting females. 1 strong warrior who ends up being more than a warrior (royalty), aliens, “I’ll protect you” over and over again, females have no choice – almost exact copies of each other.

I think I’d rather stick to Lara Adrian’s series.
