This damn guy. Gubson’s fantastic imagination has had me up until sunrise almost every night for a fortnight, because I can’t stop listening to see what happens next. Each book gets better and better. This one, though…damn. It’s a real gut puncher, in all the best, most awful ways. And it’s a cliffhanger!?!? Where’s #5, Gibson!?!
You know it’s good writing when it causes such intense emotional reactions. I started listening to one of his other series, the Villains Rule series, last week as a break from writing a particularly difficult sequence in my current story. I figured I could use a fluffy book to drone in the background while I played ps4 and gave my storytelling mind a break. Imagine my surprise when, almost 2 weeks later, I’ve finished that series AND all of the books in this Technomancer series! It’s not often that an author can blindside me like that, but he did. Kick-ass!
And the narrator, Jeffrey Kafer, is remarkable. His delivery of Father Grim is perfect.
Buy this book. But first, read the 3 that come before it. Trust me, the internet stranger that insists you’ll love this.
