I enjoyed this new universe and thoughtful telling but not without some difficulty. The trite deference and phony politeness the MC uses to cast themselves as humble or less important is nauseating. The pace of the story is okay considering the author is building an entire universe. The narration is not great, the different genders and ages they try to project are uneven and disturbing at times. The other characters are well developed and the storyline has promise. But the narration is a deal breaker for me. It’s a better read than a listen.
