Really enjoyed this. I just finished yet another military shoot em up space series and after years of loving this genre, I’ve grown tired of it the repetition. This, though also military style hierarchy, has a trading plot! What!?! Amazing! I don’t recall a single phaser fired! There is refreshing value to each being’s life, and not the indiscriminate vaporizing of thousands or millions.
Hoping the next books will go beyond jar head characters learning to set up a successful lemonade stand.
The plot and main character reminded me of catch-22 and MiloMindebender.
I enjoyed the change of pace. I also enjoyed the attention to banal descriptions of products, even if the product isn’t driving the plot.
I’m still happy enough to give it 5stars, but I acknowledge that it could have had more complex econ/trade twists and could have had more and clever negotiations.
