What Hero? What plot? What humor?

TLDR; Unlikable MC, Unlikable AI, thin and slow plot, not really even a LitRPG story.

For full disclosure I was only able to make it 1/3 of the way (a little over 6 hours) through this book and below is why I could not finish, and I have been able to finish some real stinkers in this genre.

MC has no redeemable quality. He is whiney, incompetent, incapable, unintelligent, untalented, uninspired, unfunny, unpowered, and uninteresting. with no character development so far the writers will most likely have to force a complete 180 for the MC with some ham fisted deus ex machina.

The AI companion is a poor representation of the trope and is just mean, unhelpful and unfunny.

The plot is one dimensional extremely slow and a lousy take on the heroes journey. The “system” is very flimsy, almost nonexistent and I wouldn’t be surprised if, by the end, it wasn’t really a thing as it only seems to be a joke plot device (that doesn’t work) to motivate the MC.

At first it could be mistaken for a satirical take on the genre but the story is so thin and boring it can’t even work as “so bad its good”‘ it’s just bad.
