I almost didn’t download this book, and I’m glad that I changed my mind. At first glance I read reviews thinking I was going to find a dry, boring cultivation story.

The interesting part of this book was how at first you are clearly intended to think of the MC as a bad guy, some ruthless dude-bro that played video games before an apocalypse, etc. what I found was nothing of the sort.

I found a deeply motivated cultivator that has a hard time explaining himself. I found nothing wrong with that. The story was great, the flashbacks all had relatable content in them. The chapters are even shorter! If I had to glean anything from this book that was negative, I’d say maybe the narrator was a bit dry?

The narration was up to par with this book, they kept the characters simple and they kept the background of the MC clouded till the end. I don’t want to divulge too much in a review.

So I’ll say: the story was engrossing, I was glued, the cultivation/class/skill system was complicated obviously. Find me a litrpg that doesn’t have a complicated advancement system. I’ll wait. I truly don’t know the motivation behind some of the bad reviews. Now, after listening to whole book I can’t wait to see what’s next, I preordered the next one already. I encourage the credit.
