So I got this book because I like the genre. It’s popcorn fiction, guys doing cool stuff, blowing stuff up and landing hot women. It’s a power fantasy, or the male version of romance novels; what have you. However, with that being said I do still have some standards, like most of the book shouldn’t be little more than porn.
So to be fair the pros:
Everyone has a past and have distinct motivations and personalities.
The super powers are cool and different.
The dialog is typically good and the humor is funny.
It’s the first book in awhile where the writer actually remembers to at least try to show how the characters are feeling and not tell us them.
Sadly, very sadly that is exactly the extent of the positives. Now for the cons; over half the book is sexual descriptions, sexual situations or just plain sex. The main women have little but sex on their brains, and there are more pages to denoted to sex than action. The setting could be fun and interesting if it wasn’t so damn boring! The ending basically kills off all the extended characters. Hell the plot, setting, and powers are just a painfully transparent excuse for the main character to have sex all the damn time. And yes that is my main complaint! There is so damn much sex that it kills every other aspect of the story completely! Mean damn it if I want porn I’ll read porn! I want a story here, a story with a side of naughty fun but only a side, not for the naughty to be the point of the whole story.
In the end, even as a fan of this genre I’d say skip this book; well unless you want porn.
