After listening to this all I want to do is live in Seaspray. Forever. What an amazing imagination Rick R. Reed has! By the second chapter I was all in and ready for the ride. And what a tender, wistful, heart-wrenching ride it was! This lovely story is filled with vignettes of broken souls on the very verge of doom or salvation. Reed’s magical pen draws deeply from the well of human experience. His characters are vivid, fully-formed, absolutely distinct, and heartily in touch with their own morality or in some cases, immorality. The author accessed private parts of my own heart that even I didn’t know were there. I couldn’t even begin to replay the story for you here, nor should I. I think this book is something that must be experienced. If you’re looking for something different, ready to take a journey, and escape into another world that will provide answers you never even knew you had, this book is for you.
The narration by David Allen Vargo was what absolutely brought it to life for me and compelled me to listen to it in one sitting. He is absolutely outstanding. I have no idea how he does so many different people’s voices. And the emotions he portrays! It’s like you’re right there inside these characters minds and hearts. I was deeply touched emotionally in several key moments of the story. And I loved the music! So perfect! A lovely, lovely tale.
