This is such a fun series! Each book has its own specific flair and taste. You’ll probably really like one and maybe hate another, but they’re all pretty good in their own right. Same thing with the characters themselves. I read a review where somebody said they really hated Grey’s character, but I absolutely adored him and the eventual relationship he forms with Shadow. The supernatural undertones of each book are exactly what I hoped for in this series. Overall, each book felt like it was the perfect length and covered unacceptable portion of those characters relationships, with the exception of the last book in the series, which I honestly feel like was missing at least a few more chapters or maybe at least one more epilogue. I feel the series really could have come full circle with the kids prospecting or maybe even becoming full members of the MC. The way it ended just made me want to know what happened. Also, what happened to Magpie’s fortune? That’s probably what irked me the most in terms of a logical resolution, but I guess I’m just being nitpicky. The narrator did a pretty damn good job overall, even though I’m not a fan of Joel Leslie. All in all, I’d recommend this series! It made for a fun week of listening.
