First off I love the whole gritty Star Wars feel of the amazing universe jake bible has created with this series. In this story bible brings together Roak, Drop Team Zero. And agent prime. They are all amazing characters. In this story father is revealed, bishops betrayal was deeper than could be imagined but with a sharp twist. War looms in the galaxy, yellow eyes is brought to the verge of death and Roak has become rather like a certain captain in Firefly, responsible for his crew/team of misfits. The book is great on its own but there is tons of backstory that would make the story much more sensible so I do recommend the other books first. I have a number of narrators I like who have done various jake bible stories. But when it comes to the Roak series I can’t imagine anyone voicing Roak other than Andrew Wehrlen. He has Roak down to perfection, the snarky and sarcastic and the just plain I’m done with all of you attitude is right there in the tone conveyed perfectly. Great combo.
