Could say a ton of things in a ton of directions but it all boils down to this:
I don’t enjoy spending time with the MC. Real life or fiction, he is among my least favorite personality types.
The overall writing doesn’t really help as it falls into those lazy and overly telegraphed traps…
-withholding information between characters that creates tension or drama for no actual reason beyond narrative tension…
-making an overly specific reference to something brand new, just so the next time it comes up, it will be the “twist” near or at the end…
it’s fine… just pretty replacement level and it fell slightly on the negative side for me
