The story-line is what makes this listen totally worth it. The performance of different accents is better than average, but leaves something to be desired, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Connie is a lovely, older Irish homemaker with an adult family and Grandkids. It takes Connie’s manufactured inner spunk to, even temporarily, separate herself from a family where Connie has, for at least 7years, allowed herself to become enmeshed by her husband and adult kids. Connie’s first road trip alone in her older car, Kermit, is well worth riding along in the passenger seat while Connie ventures out to visit old friends and make new friends (characters al) from Ireland to Scotland. I admit that middle-aged women might enjoy this book most, although non-religious Connie exhibits the wholesome behavior of higher conscience in every decision she makes, even to the point of generously delaying her freeing trip when she discovers her dear friend is dyng of cancer. Connie is a delight around every corner of her get away, including rearranging her home/family life after she gets back home in her new red convertable.
