It’s still a “good” story as a whole. This one wasn’t bad; just not as good as the 1st 2. It’s characters continue to grow and develop. So it does deliver on filling in the depth of the overall story. There’s a considerable amount of key plot information that is revealed; so it’s not something that can be skipped. I still rate this one overall as a 3 star simply on the fact that it made some turns that I didn’t expect. I appreciate it when a story can manage that. This series still hasn’t had an epic antagonist. The insane dev in the background, remains in the background. But the attempt at presenting him through his minions is made. The current antagonists aren’t terrible. They are decent. But to me: a story is only as good as it’s villain. I still like the MC. He continues to grow in power and ability. And I can imagine myself in the world as him. As him… I wouldn’t want to keep the new set of powers gained in this book. Too many negatives come with it. But that is just me. The main point is that it does draw me in and spurs my imagination. That is what a good story should do.

The weakest part of this book is the unnecessary (and overly explicit) sex screen. That has not been what this series is about. Why all of the sudden turn it into a smut story? It was completely unnecessary. It did not fit with the rest of the overall story. If that was the established pace throughout… then it would of made sense. This was just so out of place. Which places the whole series in the “Explicit” category just for one small section out of the entire thing. Very disappointing. It’s bad enough that the language has became more and more juvenile in this one. Not that it’s been Shakespeare from the beginning. But if the story continues in the direction of total vulgarity and perversion; then I will be done with the series and anything else by the author. It’s not worth my time and money.
